Anti-aging Cream for Men
How to choose and how to use your Anti-aging Cream
As previously explained on this other article, men's skin has specific needs, which make the facial ageing process, in general, different to that of women.
Men's skin has specific characteristics, which make men's facial aging process, as a general rule, different from that of women.
Men's skin is usually thicker and with a higher degree of sebaceous secretion than women's.
For this reason and for other hormonal reasons, the appearance of wrinkles and other signs of facial aging in men's skin usually appear later than in women.
However, when it does so, men's skin ages more quickly. That is why prevention in facial care is so important to delay this process of appearance of wrinkles and facial aging as much as possible.
In this sense, the use of an anti-aging cream is very important. But as there are many doubts and questions related to the use of an anti-aging cream on men's skin, in this article we give you the necessary answers and advice so that you know how to take advantage of your anti-aging cream, enjoy its benefits and improve your facial appearance.
In any case, if you have more questions related to the use of an anti-aging cream, do not hesitate to leave your comments, doubts or questions below. With great pleasure, we will answer you in the comments and we will expand this article with more answers.
At what age should I start using an Anti-aging Cream?
One of the most frequent questions that we are asked is from what age should you start using an anti-aging cream.
Our answer is that you start using an anti-wrinkle cream as soon as possible. We will never get tired of saying that a good prevention in the form of a proper facial care is the best anti-aging treatment.
It is much easier to prevent the appearance of wrinkles, or to treat the current ones so that they do not get bigger, than to remove them completely. That will be a bigger challenge.
So, if I'm only 18 years old, can I use an Anti-aging Cream?
Yes, it is always better to start using an anti-aging cream before wrinkles appear, as a preventive measure. If you are reading this article and you are just 18 years old, be aware that you already can start using an anti-aging cream.
Of course, it is important that you choose the right texture that suits your skin type. Keep reading below. We explain the type of texture that best suits your skin type.
What kind of Anti-aging Cream should I choose for my skin type?
In order to choose a good anti-aging cream, you should be aware of two main factors.
On one side, its ingredients. And on the other, side its texture.
The first essential factor in order to choose an anti-aging cream
Regarding its composition or ingredients, our recommendation is that you only use only facial creams that are formulated without petroleum-derived oils such as paraffin, silicones, vaselines, etc.
These petroleum-derived oils are used today in almost all cosmetic brands, because they are very cheap ingredients for the manufacturer, but they are not appropriate for your skin.
First of all they make an occlusive layer and this means that they do not leave your skin breathe. This is not healthy, and can result in the appearance of comedones (pimples or acne).
In addition, as a consequence of this occlusive layer, your skin's own moisture will rise to the upper layers of your skin, causing dehydration in the lower layers.
And as you well know, if what you want is to prevent skin aging and the appearance of wrinkles, you should not let your skin dry out, since good hydration is the fundamental aspect for the health of your skin.
Petroleum-derived oils do not let any active ingredients contained in the anti-aging cream to absorbe properly. At Homo Naturals, in our Anti-Stress Gel / Cream, instead of using oils derived from petroleum, use only vegetable oils (that is, oils derived from plants only), whose fatty acids are more akin to the fatty acids of our skin.
Vegetable oils help achieving a greater absorption of any active ingredients of the anti-aging cream. Therefore, our anti-aging cream, is not only a natural and organic moisturrizer, but also a much more effective anti-aging cream than conventional ones made from petroleum derived oils.
In addition, vegetable oils contained in our anti-aging cream are in themselves great active ingredients, since they contain vitamins, proteins, phytosterols, amino acids, etc. In order to keep all their properties intact, vegetable oils used in our formulas are cold pressed.
On the other hand, petroleum-derived oils used by conventional (non-natural) cosmetic manufacturers, are considered "inert" oils. They are by-products of petroleum refining (petroleum is refined to turn it into gasoline, diesel oil, and others). The word "inert" means "without life" because they do not have any active ingredient for your skin.
The second essential factor when choosing my anti-aging cream
The second super important factor is choosing an anti-aging cream that has the right texture for your skin type.
To know what type of texture best suits your skin type, the first thing you need is to know what type of skin you have.
We can classify skin types into 4 biotypes, from higher to lower level of oily secretion:
- Oily skin
- Combination or mixed skin
- Normal skin
- Dry skin
If you are not sure what skin type you have, we recommend this article with questions and answers so that you learn to find out your type of skin.
Anti-aging Cream for oily skin
For combination skin or for oily skin, we recommend a texture in Gel, such as that of our Anti-Stress Gel.
Its super-light texture absorbs quickly and it's great to keep your skin in good shape in order to prevent signs of aging.
Anti-aging Cream for dry skin
For a normal skin type or dry skin type, we recommend a texture in Cream, such as our Anti-Stess Cream.
However, you must also take into account the weather conditions of where you live. The climate in which we live also affects our skin. If you live in a climate with very marked seasons, we recommend using our gel texture during the hot or summer seasons, and our cream texture during the cold or winter seasons.
Can I then combine an Anti-aging Gel in summer with an Anti-aging Cream in winter?
Of course, you can. We actually recommend combining both textures in case you have a combination skin (known as "a little oily" skin), and also if you have normal skin.
If you have oily skin, then the best for you is to use our Anti-aging Gel all year round.
And if you have dry skin, then the best for you is to use our Anti-aging Cream all year round.
How do I apply my anti-aging cream?
Proper usage of your anti-aging cream consists of pushing the dispensing pump onto your fingertip and applying the cream onto three different points of your face. We recommend applying on the T zone, that is, on the forefront and on both cheeks.
Once the cream has been applied to those three areas of your face, start spreading it with the fingertips in a circular manner all over the face. If your skin absorbs the cream quickly, it is a sign that your skin needed to be hydrated. Do not hesitate to apply more cream once again.
Then proceed to perform a gentle massage in circles, spreading the cream until completely absorbed. You will see that both our Anti-Stress Gel and Anti-Stress Cream leave your skin completely shine-free.
That is a sign that they are great anti-aging moisturizers, ideal for the skin of men.
How often should I use my anti-aging cream?
We recommend using your antiaging cream twice a day when you wake up and before you go to sleep. Do not forget to apply you anti-aging cream after cleansing your face.
If you shower in the morning, then we recommend using a conventional shower gel only on your body and cleansing only with our Extra Gent’s. It’s sulfate-free and it has pH 5.5
After cleansing your face, apply our Cool Splash, revitalizing spray, or apply directly our anti-aging cream.
If you shower before going to bed, just follow the same process described above, that is, cleansing only with our Extra Gent’s, and applying your anti-aging cream only after cleansing or after using a skin toner.
In any case, if you shower in the morning, keep in mind that you still have to cleanse your face at night, and apply your anti-aging cream after cleansing.
If you shower at night, then keep in mind to also apply your anti-aging cream when you wake up in the morning, but always after cleansing.
In order to make your skincare routine easier, try to associate it with your tooth brushing. This way, you just have to remember to cleanse and hydrate your skin with your anti-aging cream, every time you brush your teeth.
Should I use my anti-aging cream every day? Is once a day enough?
Yes, you should definitively use your anti-aging cream every day. You eat every day, don’t you? And you wash yourself every day as well, right? So, you also have to nourish your skin with a proper anti-aging cream every single day, in order to keep it in good shape.
By applying daily an anti-aging cream, your skin will be properly hydrated. This is key to avoiding the appearance of wrinkles and signs of aging.
Our Anti-aging cream will provide the necessary ingredients to help your skin cell regeneration, and keep its elasticity and firmness. These are key elements to avoiding skin early aging.
Twice a day?
Yes. As you know, you must cleanse your skin twice a day. And right after cleansing, it’s a must to hydrate with a proper anti-aging cream.
If you find it difficult to follow this routine, just couple this with your daily dental hygiene. You brush your teeth at least every morning and before you go to bed, right? So, just remember to cleanse your face with a proper facial cleanser (sulfate-free + pH5) and moisturize it right away with your anti-aging cream.
